Old Fashioned Christmas at Belle Boyd House:
Nov. 23-Dec. 22, Martinsburg.
The Berkeley County Historical Society will celebrate the season with a
Christmas Open House at the Belle Boyd House, 126 East Race St., Martinsburg.
Attractions include beautiful holiday decorations, a collection of 450 Santa
Clauses and lively entertainment. Refreshments will be served on Saturdays and
Sundays from Thanksgiving to Christmas. The House and Ben Boyd Store will be
open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 1 p.m.

On Nov. 25, Mountain Laurel
Ensemble performs. This instrumental and vocalist group presents Christmas
Memories: sacred and secular holiday songs, with guest Celtic harpist Harriet
Peters. On Dec. 2, hear outstanding
choral group OPUS in a concert of classic and traditional works. Admission is

Spend a Who-filled journey with The Old Brick Playhouse on the Who Christmas
train with singing, face painting, balloon-sculpting, and storytelling, all
with the theme of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." This two-hour
adventure pulls out of the Elkins Depot at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1; and at 10 a.m.
and 1 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9. Reservations are required. The cost is $25 for

Holiday of Lights Festival: Nov. 22-Jan. 6,

From
dusk to 11 p.m., Bluefield’s City Park
is transformed into a showcase of holiday themes during the annual Holiday of
Lights Festival. Tour the beautiful park, ablaze with thousands of lights and
wonderful scenes. Festivities include special walks, bands, choirs and
horse-drawn wagon rides and a visit from Santa. Admission is free; donations

American Mountain Theatre Christmas
Shows: Nov. and Dec. dates, Elkins.
The American Mountain Theater Christmas Show offers a magical night of holiday
memories. Musical selections for these shows range from Christmas classics to
contemporary favorites. The 2007
Christmas shows are scheduled on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, starting

Harpers Ferry Olde Tyme Christmas: Dec.1-2,
Harpers Ferry.
Opening
ceremonies for Olde Tyme Christmas 2007 are 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the Harpers Ferry Historic National Park. Live greens, fruits, bows and
luminaries will adorn the shops, streets, and homes for a circa 1860s yuletide
celebration. The merchants bedeck themselves in period costumes and warm
smiles. Historic St. Peter's Church will host many traditional musical events
along with the popular living Nativity. Children's activities such as taffy,
puppet show and ornament-making will be throughout the town. Hours are

The Clay
Center invited visual
artists of various media specialties to create 7-to- 12-foot sculptures made
primarily of holiday lights or other mass produced lights to celebrate the
holiday season. Curated by Denise Deegan, Collection Manager at the Clay Center,
Seasonal Selections from the
Permanent Collection features paintings,
drawings and prints related to the winter and holiday seasons. The exhibit in
the Clay Center’s
Avampato Discovery Museum
is Wednesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Admission is

Winterfest at Cedar Lakes:
Nov. 26- Jan. 1, 2008, Ripley.
Celebrate the season with a series of festive events at Cedar Lakes’
Winterfest 2007. Enjoy a horse-drawn sleigh ride or view more than 350,000
lights in the drive-through tour, open nightly Nov. 26-Jan. 1 from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. Listen to a free concert of old time holiday music on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
Scheduled activities for Dec. 8 include a craft show from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and
craft classes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A dinner and concert by the Ripley and
Ravenswood High School Chorale is scheduled for Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.; tickets
are $10. On Dec 12, 14 and 15, 19, 22 and 23, parents can have their children’s
pictures taken with Santa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a nominal fee. Tickets for
the 6:30 p.m., Dec 22, dinner theatre performed by the Jackson County Players
