Shepherdstown's Biggest Liar Competition: Nov. 6, Shepherdstown.
Join local storytellers as they demonstrate their skills with lies and tall tales in the “Shepherdstown’s Biggest Liar” competition. Storytellers include Adam Booth, the 2006 Champion Liar, and many others. Event starts at 8 p.m. at the Shepherdstown Men’s Club. Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights: Nov. 8-Jan. 6, 2008, Wheeling.

This festival started in 1985 with a display of lights covering 125 acres. In its 22nd year, it has grown into one of the nation’s largest displays, covering more than 300 acres within a six-mile drive. National Radio Astronomy Observatory - Star Party: Nov. 10, Green Bank.

Search the night sky as the National Radio Astronomy Observatory offers a chance for excellent viewing. Event starts with an orientation at the tour center and continues to the patio for observation with optical telescopes. Participants are encouraged to bring optical telescopes and binoculars. Wild Game Weekend: Nov. 10-11, Roanoke.

Take a culinary adventure at Stonewall Resort. This weekend features a variety of edible wild foods, seminars and food demonstrations. Trees of Our Heritage: Nov. 11, Parkersburg.

View Christmas trees adorned in decorations inspired from cultures around the world. A reception to kick-off the display is scheduled on Nov. 11 at the Blennerhassett Museum from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and features live music from area groups. Refreshments provided by the Victorian Society and a Victorian Father Christmas will greet children at the Nov. 11 reception. The trees will be available for viewing through Dec. 31. Christmas Fantasy Light Show at Krodel Park: Nov. 16-Dec. 31, Point Pleasant.

A holiday parade at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 will start off the Christmas Fantasy Light Show at Krodel Park. Visitors will be able to drive through the park to observe light displays that include Santa Claus, a sternwheeler and more. There is no admission fee, but donations are accepted. Capital City Art and Craft Show: Nov. 16-18, Charleston.

Those looking for the perfect gift for that someone special will enjoy the choices at the 40th Capital City Art and Craft Show at the Charleston Civic Center. More than 150 artisans will display their unique works. Demonstrations will also be available. Tickets cost $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $1 for children 12 and under. Holiday in the Park - Parkersburg Lights Display: Nov. 17-Jan. 1, 2008, Parkersburg.

Produced by various business and individuals, this event offers a variety of still and animated light displays. Hours are from 6 to 10 p.m. each night at the City Park in Parkersburg.
