Sweetheart Getaway : Feb. 15 , Cacapon Resort State Park, Berkeley Springs.

Take your sweetheart to Cacapon Resort State Park to relax and enjoy the wonderful park surroundings. This special one-night package includes meals and the entertainment of comedian Marty Daniels. For more information, contact the activities coordinator at 304-258-1022.

Sweetheart Weekend : Feb. 15 – 16, Pipestem Resort State Park, Pipestem.

Plan an overnight romantic getaway weekend with your sweetheart at Pipestem Resort State Park. The fun starts Friday evening as you enjoy flavored coffees and desserts while listening to romantic music. Saturday night’s events include a special evening buffet and dance with the band “Riverchase” playing from 8 p.m. to midnight. This weekend package is $281.44 per couple (taxes included) and includes two nights lodging. Reservations are highly recommended. Dunbar Critter Dinner: Feb. 16, Dunbar Recreation Center, Dunbar.

Come to the Dunbar Recreation Center ready to eat Feb. 16. There you’ll find a wide variety of dishes made from deer, turkey, squirrel, bear, gator, rabbit, halibut, trout, frog legs and other tasty critters. Approximately 4,000 West Virginians come to enjoy this feast every year so be sure to get there early. The dinner runs from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is five or more cans of non-perishable food that will be donated to the Dunbar Food Pantry. Cash donations also will be accepted. WV Sweetheart Festival: Feb. 17, Sutton.

Love will be in the air in Sutton Sunday, Feb. 17 as the town celebrates Valentine’s Day with the Sweetheart Festival. The cost is $5 per person and starts at 11 a.m. in the Sutton Community Building. The festival features food, pageants, games, pie-eating contest, chili tasting, cute hunk contest, cute baby contest and cute couple contest. SKI BASH, Feb. 18 – 22, Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center, Davis.

Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center’s SKI BASH is a special week-long ski clinic designed for individuals with disabilities and their families. This event is hosted by Baltimore Adapted Recreation and Sports at Canaan Valley. To register, contact Pam Lehnert at 443-491-3227.

 

2008 American Heart Association Masquerade Ball: Feb. 23, Embassy Suites, Charleston.

Join the fun and festivities as the American Heart Association, Saint Francis Hospital and Thomas Memorial Hospital invite you to help in “Uncovering Heart Disease” at the 2008 Masquerade Ball at Embassy Suites in Charleston. The night will feature delicious food, great music and fabulous live and silent auctions. The best part is you’ll be helping the American Heart Association in the fight against heart disease and stroke, the number one and number four killers of West Virginians. Tickets are $200 and tables for 10 are available. The event runs from 6 p.m. to midnight. Subaru Master of the Mountain #2, Feb. 23 – 24, Snowshoe Mountain, Snowshoe.

This is the second on-snow event in the Subaru Master of the Mountain series.  Throughout the weekend you can pick-up some complimentary skiing tips in the Subaru learning lane, join the ski patrol for a tour of the new trails on the South Mountain or hang with the Subaru crew and kick the tires on these mountain-friendly vehicles. Silver Bridge Disaster 40th Anniversary Exhibit: Through Feb. 29, Point Pleasant River Museum, Point Pleasant.

The Point Pleasant River Museum commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Silver Bridge disaster with a new and extended exhibit. Featured are never-before-displayed photos, vehicle debris, pieces of the bridge, two movies and a model of the structure. Be sure to catch this powerful exhibit before it closes on Feb. 29. Admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children.  Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.pprivermuseum.com or call 304-674-0144.
