Mannington District Fair: Aug. 4-9, Mannington.
Take part in four days of jam-packed fun at the Mannington District Fair from Aug. 4-9. This fair features a grand parade, rides, talent show, demolition derby and live entertainment, including country/gospel music performed by Josh Oldaker, variety entertainer Jerry Brown and Little Texas. Hours are Monday through Friday 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is $ 5 per person and free for children 11 and under. For more information, call 304-986-1911.
Augusta Heritage Festival: Aug. 8-10, Elkins.
Enjoy the Augusta Heritage Festival on Aug. 8-10. Start the festival on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Elkins City Park with dancing and singing. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., bring the kids for family-friendly festivities, arts and crafts and entertainment. Stay for the evening concert at Hermanson Hall at Davis and Elkins College and wrap-up the night with a dance. Sunday includes a gospel sing at the Davis and Elkins chapel, a pipe organ concert and various other activities. Admission is free. Civil War Weekend / Re-enactment: Aug. 16-17, Greenbrier State Forest in Caldwell.

Sunday’s schedule includes commentary and background starting around 1:30 p.m. and the re-enactment of the Battle of White Sulphur Springs, also known as the Battle of Dry Creek, at 2 p.m. There is no charge for this event.
