Jan. 23 Tourism Day highlights state’s public-private tourism partnerships

CHARLESTON – Many tourism businesses in West Virginia thank West Virginia legislators and state agencies for helping them to succeed. In fact, some have said that without the state’s assistance through advertising grants and promotional help, they wouldn’t be thriving today.

The crowd-favorite theme day, Tourism Day at the Legislature, is set for Monday at the State Capitol. This year’s theme is “Partnerships for Success” which highlights the successful public-private partnerships between tourism businesses and state government.

More than 80 separate vendors will showcase their tourism products on the first and second floors of the Capitol.
The annual event is designed to show legislators and the public the growing importance of the state’s tourism industry.

Representatives from virtually every facet of the industry set up booths and displays of their wares, from restaurants and hotels to health spas and ski resorts. The schedule of activities follows.
