News Release: West Virginia's Fall Foliage Show Begins

Fall Color Map - Weekly Foliage Report - Story Ideas - Photos - Driving Tours - State Park Events - State Park Fall Map

More than 75 percent of West Virginia is forested, making it one of the most tree-covered states in the country. Anywhere you go in the Mountain State surely provides a colorful show.

The state's varied topography provides a wide range of altitudes, temperatures and tree species, making for a foliage show that starts in September and continues into November, depending on what part of West Virginia you visit.

Of course, West Virginia is famous for its country roads. Even the Interstate highways wind over and through the mountains, creating a spectacular setting even if visitors don't have time to enjoy the countless small towns and scenic wonders along the more rural routes.
